Busy, busy, busy!

In 2021, the combined East Madison Fire Territory responded to 2,165 calls for service. Here is a breakdown showing by percentage the calls for EMFT in 2021.

As we move into 2022, call volume is continuing to trend upwards, and EMFT is on track to be one of the busiest departments in Madison County, having made over 90 runs in the first two weeks of the year.

Two stations become one department

January 1, 2022, saw neighboring departments join forces to become one operational unit. Richland Township FD and Chesterfield Union Township FD combined to become East Madison Fire Territory. With two stations operating as one department, we’re excited to bring superior fire and EMS coverage to the residents and businesses in our coverage area!

A historic event occurred on January 1, 2022, as the members of two CUTFD and RTFD were sworn in as staff of the newly formed East Madison Fire Territory. The two departments have been training together for months, and the transition to the new territory is an exciting time. The larger staff and wider knowledge base provide training opportunities in a variety of technical rescue capabilities, such as dive, ice, and rope rescue, as well as staffing the regional HazMat response team.

With the potential for over 2500 runs in 2022, EMFT is building a dynamic team, focused on providing excellent fire, rescue, and EMS response for our entire coverage area, as well as providing mutual aid response for surrounding departments. Now is the time to get in on the ground floor by applying for fire, EMS, cadet or support positions. Join us as we build EMFT’s future!
